I strongly believe in voting according to the majority view of the electorate even if it contradicts my personal view.

The Legislative Council must be independent of all party politics so that a frank review of the impact any legislation has on each member's electorate is possible.

Owner-Manager of two greenfield start up businesses - one in metal fabrication, manufacturing trailers and flat trays (Taz Tek Trailers) and Tasmanian Motorcycle Transport, a specialist motorcycle freight service with a 24/7 statewide pickup and a direct to Melbourne service.

Have lived/worked in China (speaks Mandarin), USA, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan. Have worked in retail, tourism, agriculture, forestry and aquaculture businesses, plus three years Army service. Worked for three Australian export companies and promoted Australian products in Asia in both the private and public sector. Australia/China joint ventures included working for AB Denning to supply coaches for a Mercedes joint venture in China. Was the national co-ordinator for the Shenzhen Trade Expo (Australia) selling US$15 million on opening day, sold out by noon on day two for a total of US$25 million.

Have also been an Orana committee member and treasurer, Queensland China Business Association treasurer and president, Devonport Dragons Abreast team paddler. Currently a Delta Society Pet Partner volunteer visiting local nursing homes with Sam the wonder dog.
